Congratulations to Dr. Amanda Slaunwhite (UBC), Dr. Tonia Nicholls (UBC), Dr. Bernie Pauly (CISUR, UVic), Dr. Karen Urbanoski (CISUR, UVic), Dr. Bohdan Nosyk (SFU), and Dr. Natt Hongdilokkul (SFU) for receiving a grant ($852,439) from the Government of Canada through CIHR. This grant was part of a research funding competition launched by CIHR in April 2020 to address the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada and around the globe. Its purpose is to support a select group of research teams across the country in their efforts to develop measures to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and the negative impact it has had on communities and health systems. This grant will support a project lead by Dr. Amanda Slaunwhite that will assess the impact of the pandemic and new risk-mitigation guidance measures on COVID-19 infection and treatment of substance use disorders and non-fatal and fatal overdoses in BC.
